Kitsap County offers a wealth of public transportation for its communities, including ferries, buses, vanpools and even our own airport.
Ferries provide regular service to the Seattle area from four convenient Kitsap locations. In Fact, Washington State Ferries operates one of the most exten- sive ferry services in the nation. In addition, Kitsap Transit operates a private passenger-only ferry service between Bremerton and Port Orchard, which runs every half hour. Kitsap Transit also provides affordable service in an expansive bus route with access services and regular vanpools available.
Para Transit Services assists disabled and disadvantaged residents. Bremerton National Airport, operated by the Port of Bremerton, boasts one of the longest runways in Western Washington. The Port also has easy rail access for companies with shipping needs. They recently signed an agreement with the Port of Grays Harbor to allow easy access from the Pacific Coast directly to the Port of Bremerton.
ACCESS Service provides door-to-door or curb-to-curb transportation to the elderly and disabled unable to use the fixed route transit system to doctor’s appointments, shopping, visiting friends, or any other destination within Kitsap County. To schedule rides on Kitsap Transit ACCESS , you must first complete an eligibility application.
Kitsap Transit’s Smart Commuter Option Of Today (SCOOT) is a car sharing program for commuters who travel by foot, bus, carpool or vanpool to work in certain areas of Kitsap County.
Vanpools offer tremendous savings over the cost of commuting alone--the typical vanpooler saves more than $5,000 a year. Kitsap Transit's Vanpool Coordinators, with the assistance of www.RideshareOnline.com, can help locate commuters who want to start or join a vanpool.
